Directions: ”After basic skincare, spread a thin layer of the sun cream over your face and body for UV protection.” (From the Website).

Does this sting the eyes?: This only started to sting (seep into) my eyes after wearing for 5-6 hours. This didn’t seep into my eyes while working out, it only happens after long use (re-applying doesn’t affect this effect). NOTE: I apply this mostly just on the face (as I think it’s good enough to just be used on the face) but I can comfortably and sometimes apply this onto the neck and ears without this balling up.

How I use it: I apply this when I wont be out for more than 5-6 hours.

Does this turn milky when sweating?: No.

Texture: This is a creamy, lightweight sunblock that instantly feels hydrating while rubbing in. I’m surprised by how lightweight it is, and it means that this spreads very far (make sure you still apply the appropriate amount of sunblock). It doesn’t make my skin feel like it’s suffocating or uncomfortable. However this is NOT a mattifying sunblock. It does have a dewy finish (great for dry skins and dehydrated skins or those in dry/cold weather), so I could imagine oilier skins finding the finish of this to be uncomfortable as this does not disappear into the skin. Yes, it gets absorbed and settles, (doesn’t move around all over the face), but you do have a glowy appearance (I don’t look horribly shiny/greasy or sweaty, but I look glowy).

Sticky?: No.

Greasy?: This is moisturising. Oily skins might find this greasy however combination and dry skins would enjoy this moisturising (thin) texture. This does not have a powdery finish (not a silicone finish either or a super absorbent finish).

Balls up?: No.

  • As you can see, this initially is an opaque cream that turns transparent while rubbing in.

  • As you can see, this has a dewy finish to it. This is not a mattifying sunblock. (But this isn’t horrifically shiny on my face).

Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: Yes. This does not mean that sensitive skins cant use this.

Summer or Winter?: Dry, Normal and Dry-Combination Skins can wear this all-year round. Oily-Combination Skins could wear this during the Winter (dry months).

Layerable?: Yes.

Video Swatch:

  • As you can see, this has a lightweight cream texture and isn’t sticky or gloopy. It does have a shiny/dewy finish (but this doesn’t make me look very badly greasy looking).

Fragrance?: Contains Fragrance (A lemongrass-type scent). This is a light scent that dissipates after rubbing in.

Good Under Makeup?: Yes.

How long have I been using this?: 2 Months.

Will I use until Completion?: Yes.

How Long will that take?: Another ~4-5 months (This is a big bottle and I sometimes apply this onto the neck and ears).

The Effect?: Sun protected skin and initially; this immediately hydrates and moisturises the skin. It doesn’t dry the skin out and remains moisturising on the skin (doesn’t turn powdery like the Anessa sunblocks for example).

What I like:

  • Hydrating / Moisturising
  • Lightweight
  • Not Sticky / Tacky
  • No White Cast
  • Did not worsen my skin’s condition
  • A lot of ML (Volume) for the price!

What I don’t like:

  • Not mattifying (Dewy finish)
  • Fragranced
  • Starts to irritate the eyes 6 hours into wearing (re-applying doesn’t change this effect for me)

Overall Rating and Conclusion: 3.9 (nearly 4)/5 – This is a lightweight, hydrating and moisturising sunblock! I appreciate that it has no white cast, you get a lot of ml, and this felt comfortable to wear on my skin, despite the dewy finish. However I do prefer a more matte or powdery finish overall. Furthermore, this starts to seep into the eyes after wearing this for 5-6 hours or more (I do re-apply as well). Therefore, I would recommend this if you’re wearing it for less than 6 hours and if you have Normal, Dry, Combination (or if you are living in dry weather) skin. If you like the Beauty of Joseon Sunblock, then you may enjoy this sunblock (I find this less dewy/greasy than the BOJ sunblock).

Would I repurchase?: Yes, this works for me in the dry/cooler months, I like the lightweight texture and that it’s a big bottle (and not too expensive!).

Dupe?: The Banila Co – Aqua Sun Essence SPF50+ PA++++ (Swatches + Review HERE) has a similar texture and finish (even more comfortable to wear).

  • The Be Plain – Sunmuse Moisture Sunscreen – SPF50+ PA++++ (Swatches + Review HERE). Very comfortable finish, and also just as moisturising / hydrating.

Available at: Yesstyle – LINK / Stylevana – LINK

  • The Scinic Sunblock is almost as dewy as the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF50+ Sunblock (But this is definitely less dewy) but if you like that lightweight feel, I would definitely recommend this for Dry Skins (Swatches + Review HERE)

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
