What is it?:
Korean native herb Mugwort holds a unique scent of Chineol containing vitamins, minerals, and tannins.

What does it do: Calm the skin down. Apparently Mugwort is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial so good for acneic skin.

(I think this did calm down my skin)

Volume: 160ml

Suitable for: All skin types (I agree as when my skin was sensitised – this did not sting me). Even acne prone skin / acneic skin. Troubled / irritated skin.

Directions: Use after a toner (tap into the skin). You can use it as a mist (good idea).

-(Ideas from Wishtrend): For days when your skin is feeling extra dry, soak about 3 cotton pads with the Mugwort Essence and leave the pad on your skin for about 5 minutes to allow maximum moisturization.
– For calming effects, you can soak the essence sheet to use the Mugwort Essence as a hydration mask then remove after about 5 minutes.

How I use it: I used this with a cotton pad as my toner.

Texture: Basically water, slightly thicker. Glides down the skin smoothly and quickly.

Under makeup?: Absolutely fine

Fragrance?: No (just smells like Mugwort) I would say the ginseng serum from I’m from smells stronger.

Packaging: Glass bottle – could be tricky to travel with BUT looks lovely on your shelf. And this is easy to pour out onto your hand/onto a pad. Also because of the ‘drip’ mechanism (same as the rice toner bottle) – it means I can’t just pour this product on the pad, I have to drip it on which can be time consuming if i want the pad completely soaked in product. BUT this could be useful to save product.

Full Ingredients:
Mugwort 100% (Artemisia Princeps Extract 100%)

What I like:

  • No fragrance
  • Very light (water-light)
  • Quickly Absorbs
  • Great for all skin types (even sensitive skins)
  • Does not irritate skin (soothes skin) does not burn
  • Just 1 ingredient
  • Large volume

What I don’t like:

-Glass bottle – difficult to travel with for fear of smashing in-transit.

-Quite pricey for what it is

-I don’t know if there is real scientific evidence that Mugwort does anything so it may be a bit of a waste of £$£ (but it feels nice to use)

-Still not hydrating enough for dehydrated or very dry skin.

-Because it’s just 1 ingredient, there are no other ‘added bonuses’ to this essence other than Mugwort.

Overall: This did calm my skin down. Did not further aggrevate my skin. Did not deeply hydrate my skin. Was good for my skin when using retinol and my skin was very very sensitive. I do prefer this to the rice toner which stung. But this did not cure or reduce acne. This did not change my skin tone or anything else that it is claimed to do except further aggrevate my skin.

Overall Score: 4/5

Would I repurchase?: Possibly. I do like that this does not further aggrevate my skin and it sinks into the skin easily.
