Where to purchase: Available on Yesstyle HERE
Price: £9.50 for 100ml (£16 for 200ml)
Volume: My one is 200ml
What is it?: A soothing toner meant to strengthen one’s skin barrier.
Description: Water-free toner containing 91.3% Milk Vecht Root Extract (Japanese Goldthread Root extact).
Good for: Dry / combo Skins. I’d say sensitive skin too, it’s literally if you are sensitive to the specific Root Extract (Milk Vecht), then this wouldn’t be for you.

Packaging: Blue Plastic Bottle with a Screw Lid, Flip-top cap. Great to travel with. This type of packaging and dispensing mechanism makes this easy to dispense product into a cotton pad.

Directions: This toner can be used both in the AM and PM and is to be used to prep the skin before using serums.
How I use it: I use a cotton pad – fully saturate it and swipe the face with it post-cleanse.
Key Ingredients: 91.3% Milk Vecht Root Extract (Soothing + Anti-Inflammatory) which contains Betaine (Moisturisation) and Minerals. Also known as Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract which can also be called Astragali Radix. (This is a Chinese root, and is used for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is also used as an emollient in skincare).
Arginine – amino acid used as a natural moisturising factor.
Butylene Glycol (humectant + helps with spread ability and absorption).
Full Ingredients: Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Arginine

Texture: This is definitely a gel-type toner as it is thicker than regular watery toners, and yet does absorb relatively quick while hydrating the skin. Very Similar to the Hada Labo Premium Lotion (I.e. verging on a serum texture rather than an essence toner. But this still isn’t so thick that I would say oily skins wouldn’t like this. I think all skins could find this hydrating and soothing, but perhaps more so dry and combination skins.
It spreads easily, doesn’t have any intrusive smells and it dries down nicely too. It layers adequately under my other products and does hydrate.

This looks like a gel spread over the hand. It looks so watery and if you give it a moment, it does start to sink into the skin.

You can manoeuvre and manipulate the product around before it starts to sink into the skin. Highly spreadable.
Yesstyle Haul – Contains Essence Toner Swatches!
This Yesstyle Youtube Video Shows a live swatch of the Pyunkang Yul Toner.
Fragrance?: This does not contain added fragrance or essential oils. And I don’t get a strong scent either.
Good Under Makeup?: Yes this seems to be ok! Hydrates the skin so it’s a good prepper.
How long have I been using this?: A month
The Effect?: Hydrated and plumped out skin. This doesn’t seem to promote irritation.

What I like:
- Hydrating
- Non-irritating /sensitising
- Like the packaging (a flip top cap)
- Layers well under other products
- Can use both with and without a cotton pad (because it’s thick enough)
What I don’t like:
- It would have been nice if Hyaluronic Acid + the other components of HA were added to this toner such as Sodium Hyaluronate and Super Nano HA etc (Like the Gokujun Premium Lotion) as that would have really boosted the hydration/humectant efficacy of this product. This product is a bit too simple – but that can be excellent for sensitive skins or skins that get easily inflamed.
- Some people may find this too thick? (similar to the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Toner
Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4/5 – I like this toner, it is hydrating and didn’t seem to irritate my skin. I did find that my skin felt good after applying this and it did sit well and layer well under my other skincare products. I would recommend it to sensitive skins.
Would I repurchase?: Yes I would!
Dupe?: The Dear Klairs Supple Preparation toner OR the Hada LAbo Gokujun Toner (this contains HA and more HA compounds than this product).

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
