What is it + What does it do?: Ampoule/Serum containing Squalane + Red Beetroot to Moisturise and Hydrate the Skin
Aims to: Moisten dry, rough skin. Provide ‘radiance’ and nourishment to the skin without leaving it sticky.
Supposedly Good for: All Skin Types
What I think: Oily Skins may prefer this over Dry Skins due to the Watery + Lightweight nature of this. Of course this contains Squalane which is an Oil-like ingredient Dry Skins may find Moisturising, but this is a watery-type product.
Vegan?: Yes
Cruelty Free?: Yes
How long does it last after opening?: 12 Months
pH: 5.6~7.6 (6.6)
Packaging: Glass Bottle with a Dropper (easy to use + doesn’t seem to spill as it has that plastic insert at the tip).

Directions: Apply a sufficient amount to the face and massage. Pat lightly to enhance absorption. Apply after a toner.
2) Pat lightly to enhance absorption.
How I use it: I apply in the PM (due to the layering/balling up issues I’ve had with this, I didn’t want to try it with SPF). 3-4 for the face. I apply this under a moisturiser and on top of a Toner/Essence (if they’re watery and don’t form a film. This wouldn’t layer too well with a gel toner or gel essence that forms a film).
Key Ingredients: The star ingredient is 81.5% Red Beet Extract – An Antioxidant that protects the skin from environmental damage and photo-ageing. It also is moisturising. Carnosine – Antioxidant + Wound-healing. Niacinamide does some great heavy lifting here (Skin brightening, Sebum-regulating, Antioxidant, Skin-barrier reinforcing). Micro Squalane Capsules are included (i.e. encapsulated Squalane; which is meant to penetrate the skin deeper and provide moisturisation further into the skin. Which reminds me of the Skin1004 Madecassoside Encapsulated Brightening Ampoule HERE). Panthenol + Allantoin are included as Soothing ingredients.
Full Ingredients: Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Glycerin, Squalane, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Adenosine, Allantoin, Carnosine
NOTE: The Incidecoder have a full ingredient breakdown HERE
Texture: This is a lightweight serum that once dried down, forms a thin film on top of the skin. It feels comfortable and hydrating. The issue is the balling up I had with this and the layering issues due to it.
Sticky?: No. The encapsulated Squalane stops this from feeling too sticky.
Greasy?: No (Lightweight and Watery)
Balls up?: Yes

- As you can see this is a transparent liquid which almost looks like a gel on the skin. This would run down my hand if I tilted it.

- It’s an interesting texture as you can see. Due to the encapsulated Squalane (oil-like ingredient), the product sort of separates into oil and water components (forming droplets). Of course, once rubbing this in; the product absorbs and hydrates the skin. It doesn’t form a thick or heavy layer.

Product : No Product – Comparison

Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: Yes
Summer or Winter?: Summer
Layerable?: No (Once this has dried down fully and formed a film, it can ball up depending what you put on top and how hard you rub / massage your skin).
Video Swatch:
- As you can see, this is a lightweight watery->gel serum that forms droplets on the skin initially and is easy to massage into the skin. Once this dries down, it forms a thin film on the skin.
Fragrance?: No added Fragrance or EO. I don’t get a strong or off-putting scent from this.
Good Under Makeup?: Has the potential to ball up, so no.
How long have I been using this?: 3 Months
Will I use until Completion?: No as I don’t like the balling up / layering issues I’ve had. But the product itself is lightweight and breathable/pleasant.
The Effect?: Mainly, Hydrated skin. The antioxidants provide some protection for the skin (but those effects aren’t visible). However once this has dried down and formed a film on the face, then balling up can occur, especially if one rubs their skin or applies products on top.

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
