Hello all! – Are you a fan of the skin-nourishing power of oats like I am? After my lukewarm experience with the Purito Oat-in Gel Cream (check out my review HERE), I wanted to delve deeper into Purito’s oat-infused skincare line. This time, I set my sights on their Oat-In Toner and Oat-In Moisturiser. In this review: I explore these two products, sharing my personal experiences and uncovering any noteworthy dupes and alternatives along the way!
Firstly, Why Oats?
Oat Extract (Colloidal Oatmeal) and Oat Powder (A powdered form of Oat extract) is commonly used in skincare products. It contains 5% of the soothing ingredient Beta-Glucan and 3-11% Lipids (Omega-3 and Omega-6) which are barrier-supporting. They also contains Avenanthramides which are anti-inflammatory.
Using oat extract forms a protective barrier on the skin, helping to retain moisture and improve skin hydration. It delivers anti-inflammatory, emollient, nourishing and protective qualities into one’s skincare. As oat extract contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.
It is usually targeted at inflamed, irritated, itchy and/or eczema-prone skin (Itchiness and redness).

Oat-in Silky Toner
Where to purchase: Yesstyle: LINK / Stylevana: LINK / Look Fantastic: LINK
Price: £19.21
Volume: 20ml
Made in: South Korea
What is it?: This is a two-in-one, 68.09%, oat-based toner (oat kernel extract and oat seed water) that preps and softens sensitive skin, providing relief and maximum hydration.
Aims to: Improve Skin Texture + Calm Irritation + Deeply moisturise
Supposedly Good for: Dry + Sensitive Skin.
What I think: I would agree, however Oily skins may prefer this over Dry skins due to the lightweight texture of this toner.
Vegan?: Yes
Cruelty Free?: Yes
EU-Allergen-Free?: Yes
Malassezia Suitable?: No
Packaging: Plastic bottle with a screw-top lid and a hygiene tab to prevent over-spilling product.
Directions: ”After cleansing, take a moderate amount and apply to the entire face. Gently pat for better absorption.” (From the Website).
How I use it: I apply this in the AM and PM as this is lightweight enough to do so. You can use the fingers, but because this is so thin, it may be easier to apply this with a pad (although you can end up using up a lot of product as the pad will soak up so much of this watery liquid, so a 1/2 pad may be preferable).
Key Ingredients: Oat Kernel Extract + Flour Extract (Skin conditioning and moisturising) / Glycerin (Humectant) / Beta-Glucan (Soothing and anti-inflammatory) / Meadowfoam Seed Oil (Emollient / Skin-conditioning).
Full Ingredients: Avena Sativa (Oat) Seed Water (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Glycerin (Humectant), 1,2-Hexanediol (Solvent), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Water (Solvent), Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate (Surfactants-Emulsifying Agents), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Ethylhexylglycerin (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Beta-Glucan (Skin-Conditioning Agent)
NOTE: The Incidecoder have a full ingredient breakdown HERE
Texture: A watery, lightweight and hydrating toner (see swatch video below) that is meant to provide the skin with a dewy glow. It does provide a glow to the skin, but it starts to dull as the product gets more sucked up into the skin (not like TO’s Toner or the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner).
Sticky?: No
Greasy?: Not really (this is emollient but not as greasy as The Ordinary’s Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner (Review HERE).
Balls up?: No
- As you can see, this is lightweight, watery and runs down the skin. It absorbs quickly and is hydrating.

No Product (Left) VS Product (Right)

What I like:
- Fragrance + EO Free
- Sturdy packaging (easy to dispense)
- Lightweight
- Hydrating
- Did not irritate/aggravate my skin
What I don’t like:
- As this is so thin and dispenses so easily, it is easy to waste product (especially with a cotton pad) / use up product quite quickly (‘ve already basically finished mine)
- Not particularly moisturising (may not be as suitable for dry-er skins)
Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4 (nearly 3.9)/5 – This is a good, hydrating and lightweight toner that suited my oily-combination skin. I appreciate that it did not worsen my skin’s condition, and it didn’t feel too thick, heavy, sticky/tacky or greasy. It did not ball up either. It didn’t intensely soothe my skin and I didn’t really reach for it when the skin was irritated. Oily skins could use this toner (particularly oily-combination skins).
Would I repurchase?: Yes.
Dupe?: The I’m From Rice Toner is also just as thin as this toner, but it contains Niacinamide which is both brightening and sebum-regulating. (It is also Vegan + Cruelty-Free). Swatches + Review HERE.
Available at: Yesstyle: LINK / Soko Glam: LINK / Stylevana: LINK
For Normal / Dry + Combination Skins: The First Aid Beauty Wild Oat Hydrating Toner (Swatches + Review HERE) is good for dry-er skin types as it’s a slightly thicker liquid. It is soothing and also moisturising.
Available at: First Aid Beauty: LINK / Feel Unique: LINK / Sephora: LINK
- The Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Toner is slightly thicker and more emollient than this toner, so I would recommend it to more Normal-Dry Skins. It is Vegan + Cruelty-Free.
Available at: Yesstyle: LINK / Stylevana: LINK
- The Ordinary’s Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner (Swatches + Review HERE) is a good alternative for Dry Skins. It is thicker, more emollient and yet still a liquid that forms a barrier on top of the skin.

Oat-in Intense Cream

Price: £18.77
Volume: 150ml
Made in: South Korea
What is it?: An intense (deeply) moisturising cream containing 71.85% (Key Ingredients) Oat Kernel Oil and Oat seed water to calm irritation and improve the skin’s texture.
What does it do?: Improve Skin Texture / Calm + Relief the Skin / Improve skin dryness (+ Moisture levels).
Supposedly Good for: Dry and Sensitive Skin.
What I think: I would agree.
Vegan?: Yes
Cruelty Free?: Yes
EU-Allergen-Free?: Yes
Malassezia Suitable?: No
Packaging: Plastic bottle with a pump mechanism. This feels sturdy. The dispenser (in my opinion) under-dispenses product so I have to do 3-4 pumps to cover the face.
Directions: ”Take a moderate amount and apply to the entire face and body as desired. Gently pat for better absorption.” (From the website).
How I use it: I applied this in the PM at the last step of my skincare routine. It took 3-4 pumps to cover the face and neck. I could not use this in the AM because it was too thick for me.
Key Ingredients: Oat Kernel Flour + Oat Kernel Extract + Oat Kernel Oil (Skin-Conditioning + Soothing + Emollient).
Full Ingredients: vena Sativa (Oat) Seed Water (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Glycerin (Humectant), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), 1,2-Hexanediol (Solvent), Glyceryl Stearate (Surfactant), Polyglyceryl-2 Stearate (Surfactant), Water (Solvent), Stearyl Alcohol (Surfactant), Carbomer (Viscosity Increasing Agents), Arginine (pH Adjuster), Ethylhexylglycerin (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract (Skin-Conditioning Agent)

Texture: This is a smooth, creamy moisturiser. It is very emollient and melts into the skin; forming a moisturising barrier on top (see swatch video below).
Sticky?: No
Greasy?: To oily skins (or those in hot and humid weather), this might seem greasy.
Balls up?: No
- As you can see, this is an emollient cream (quite viscous).
Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: No.
Summer or Winter?: Dry Skin: All year round. Oily Skin: This still might be too thick in the winter.
Layerable?: Yes.
Video Swatch:
- As you can see, this is definitely an emollient cream. It feels moisturising (not that hydrating), but isn’t sticky or tacky.
Fragrance?: This is Fragrance + EO Free.
Good Under Makeup?: For Dry Skins, yes (as this is quite thick / emollient).
How long have I been using this?: 1 Month (I couldn’t continue using this).
Will I use until Completion?: No.
The Effect?: Moisturised skin. This was soothing on irritated skin (helped stop the itchiness).

What I like:
- Fragrance + EO Free
- Moisturising
- Did not aggravate/irritate my skin
- Helped when the skin was itchy
What I don’t like:
- Too thick / emollient for my oily-combination skin
- Not that hydrating (more moisturising)
- Takes a while to pump out enough / adequate product
Overall Rating and Conclusion: 2/5 – This was not a cream made for my skin type, so I did not find it compatible with my skin. It was too thick and heavy and was uncomfortable to wear. The effect of this cream is good; it helped reduce itchiness and irritation, and it is definitely moisturising, I would recommend this moreso to dry skins.
Oily and Oily-Combination Skins are encouraged to try out/use the Purito Oat-In Calming Gel Cream as an alternative to this cream. You can read about my experience and review with this Gel cream HERE.

Would I repurchase?: No
Oat-Containing Dupes?: The Krave – Oat so Simple Water Cream is a slightly lighter and more watery dupe, while still being quite creamy and emollient (Swatches + Review HERE). It too contains Oat Extract to soothe sensitive and irritated skin.
Available at: Krave: LINK / Soko Glam: LINK / Cult Beauty: LINK
- The Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Cream (Swatches + Review HERE) contains Oat Extract. It is unscented, and has a lighter base that makes it work for combination skin types and not only dry skins.
Available at: Sephora: LINK / Boots: LINK / Target: LINK / Ulta: LINK

- For Dry Skins: The Geek & Gorgeous 101 Happier Barrier Cream is also directed at Dry Skins (Swatches + Review HERE).
Available at: Geek & Gorgeous 101: LINK
- For Combination Skin Types: The Purito B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream (Swatches + Review HERE).
Available at: Yesstyle: LINK / Stylevana: LINK / Skinsider: LINK
Moisturiser Review (Includes the Purito – B5 Panthenol Re-Barrier Cream)
- Emollient Cream: The Curel Intensive Moisture Facial Cream (Fragrance + EO Free) – Swatches + Review HERE – is a good blend of being lightweight yet very emollient and hydrating. Even my Oily-Combination Skin could use it in the winter.
Conclusion
Overall, I have enjoyed using one of those products and not so much, the other. The Toner has been lightweight and hydrating, and I have enjoyed that it does not ball up. It soothes and matches my Oily-Combination Skin. I would recommend it particularly to Oilier skin types.
The Cream on the other hand was too thick, rich and emollient for my oily-combination skin and is more suitable for Dry skins. I understand that the Purito Oat-in Watery Gel Cream was made / intended for oilier skin types, however you can read my Swatches + Review of it HERE.
My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
