What is it?: A Gel Cream containing 77% Oat Seed Water, meant to calm the skin.
Brand Description: This Lightweight Gel Cream containing Oat Seed Water, Panthenol + Squalane helps sooth, hydrate and nourish the skin. It absorbs into the skin quickly.
Aims to: Reduce Sensitivity, Redness + Irritation
Supposedly Good for: Oily + Sensitive Skins
What I think: I agree! I think this suits both, perfectly. But Combo Skins could use this in the Summer.
Vegan?: Yes
Cruelty Free?: Yes
Packaging: The cap is 100% PCR Plastic (Post-consumer Recrycled Materials). The paper Tube is Reduced Plastic (58% Less Plastic).
Directions: ”Apply onto cleansed skin after using a serum and before your SPF. If you want extra hydration/moisture, then apply a cream after. Avoid the eye + lip area when applying.” – From the Purito Website.
How I use it: To avoid any issues in terms of balling up/layering issues with my Liquid SPFs, I use this in the PM, right at the end of my routine. I’m currently using the Foreo Bear and it requires a watery/water-based serum to enable the microcurrents to work SO this has been good to use/pair with the Bear!
Key Ingredients: Oat Seed Water (77%) – Soothing + Calming. Squalane – Emollient that doesn’t worsen acne. Panthenol – Soothing + Anti-inflammatory. Beta-Glucan – Soothing + Moisturising. Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Soothing).
Full Ingredients: Avena Sativa (Oat) Seed Water(77.05%)(Solvent), Butylene Glycol(Skin-Conditioning Agent), Glycerin(Humectant), 2,3-Butanediol(Humectant), 1,2-Hexanediol(Solvent), Water(Solvent), Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer(Viscosity Increasing Agents), Squalane(Skin-Conditioning Agents), Hydroxyacetophenone(antioxidant), Carbomer(Viscosity Increasing Agent), Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate(Skin-Conditioning Agents), Panthenol(Skin-Conditioning Agents), Tromethamine(pH Adjuster), Ethylhexylglycerin(Skin-Conditioning Agent), Inulin Lauryl Carbamate(Emulsion Stabilizer), Sodium Surfactin(Solubilizing Agents), Beta-Glucan(Skin-Conditioning Agents)
NOTE: The Incidecoder have a full ingredient breakdown HERE
Texture: Definitely a Gel Cream! (Please See the Swatch Video Below for Texture in Action!) This, when spreading along the skin, looks so watery and lightweight. I think over application can make this start to feel sticky/tacky, but that’s if one adds a lot of product. Just a regular pea-sized amount and spreading along the skin should help. This doesn’t feel greasy. This definitely feels cooling along the skin and hydrating. There’s no oily finish.

As you can see this is a transluscent gel that, one spreading out – becomes transparent.

I hope you can feel the hydration from here
Does this layer well?: I wouldn’t recommend over or on top of oils/oily products, to avoid any balling up issues.
Does this sting of the Skin is Irritated/Sensitised due to heavy retinol use and/or shaving?: I find that this can if the skin is very irritated. I would prefer to use the SVR Aqua Gel or the Geek&Gorgeous Stress Less Serum or the Skin1004 Ampoule.
Summer or Winter?: Oily skins could enjoy this both seasons. Dry skins could use this in the Summer AM, during hot weather.
Video Swatch:
Hopefully you can see how lightweight and watery-like this gel cream is!
Fragrance?: Fragrance + EO Free (This pretty much smells of nothing except that typical watery, gel-cream scent).
Good Under Makeup?: I wouldn’t recommend it, as this may ball up when rubbing (i.e. with a makeup brush or a sponge) and/or using oilier foundations.
How long have I been using this?: 2-3 Months
The Effect?: Hydrated and soothed skin! This definitely soothes the skin and helps alleviate redness. Also, this hasn’t aggrevated the skin and I definitely can see why it’s aimed at Oily skins. My Oily-Combo Skin does require a bit more emollients during cold winter evenings, so I have had to apply a more emollient serum or cream on top of this, just to ”seal it all in” and provide my skin with the hydration and moisture it needs.

What I like:
- Fragrance + EO Free
- Cruelty Free
- Hydrating!
- Soothing
- Cooling
- Didn’t worsen my skin
- Lightweight + thin
- Spreadable (a little goes a long way!)
- Environment Conscious-packaging
What I don’t like:
- Layering issues around oils/oilier products
- Balls up under alcohol-containing SPFs (i.e. the Missha Aqua Sun Gel)
- Not that moisturising (i.e. Hydrating > Moisturising)
Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4 (almost a 3.9) /5 – Those with Oily (and/or irritated) skin, especially those living in hot and humid weathers would LOVE this! I think Oily + Sensitive is the perfect call for a product like this! I have Oily-Combo skin but I find that in the Winter (PM), my skin (in the PM) does require a bit more of an emollient cream to stay both moisturised and hydrated (so I have to apply either something on top or under that wont cause this product to ball up)! The slight issues with this balling up reduced a point, as well as the slight stinging I get when/if the skin is very sensitised (I would still recommend this to sensitive skins).
BUT this has worked really well while using my Foreo Bear (As well as the COSRX Green Tea Aqua Gel Cream), so it definitely has been useful for me! It’s hard to find such a thin, watery and lightweight Gel cream that doesn’t solely depend on oats and has added skin soothing and skin beneficial ingredients!
Would I repurchase?: I’m torn between repurchasing this and something like the SVR soothing gel which seems to layer a bit better? (Less balling up issues). The SVR is definitely more minimalist and simplistic in its ingredients but I find that I can use it when the skin is brutally sensitised due to over-retinol use or shaving, whereas this I have to be careful as it can sting if the skin is very sensitised.
Dupe?: The First Aid Beauty – Hello Fab Coconut Water Gel Cream is a good dupe! My review is HERE. Also, the COSRX Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream also has the same texture!
My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
