Where to purchase: Yesstyle: Link Discount Code: CVQFZA / Stylevana: LINK / FeelUnique: LINK / Beauty Bay: LINK

Price: ~£26

Volume: 80ml

Made in: South Korea

What is it?: An Essence/Serum/Cream hybrid (Squeezes out Cream + Essence from either side to create a lighter, watery-cream that aims to improve the skin’s tone + hydration.

What does it do?: Aims to fully hydrate and moisturise the skin while tackling the signs of ageing and brightening the skin via Snail Mucin (74.3% Snail Secretion Filtrate) + 5% Niacinamide (as well as other skin-beneficial ingredients).

What makes this different?: This contains a Triple Snail Complex which basically uses 3 types of Mucin from 3 types of snails; these are supposed to provide different properties to the skin: Land Snail Mucin: Locks in hydration and softens the skin’s texture. Black Mucin: Aims to work with pores and improve skin renewal. Golden Shell Mucin: Provide Moisture.

How does it differ from the Regular Essence?: Mainly it’s in the texture. This Dual Essence to me is like a mix of the Snail Cream + The Snail Essence to create something special. Additionally, the Essence doesn’t contain Niacinamide but this does. Also the Triple Snail Complex is included in this dual essence whereas the regular essence contains Mucin from one type of snail. This dual essence also works to improve the overall look and fine lines of the skin whereas the essence focuses mainly on hydration (which it does EXTREMELY well may I add!).

Supposedly Good for: All Skin Types + Skins that look dull and dehydrated.

What I think: I think this would work for all Skin types (even sensitive skins) as it’s intensely hydrating. I think it’s much better than the Cosrx Snail cream for Oily + Combo skins as this is a watered down/thinner version of the cream.

Directions: Pump, mix the two essences and apply on the face. Tap the skin to improve absorption.

How I use it: I apply this in the PM as a Moisturiser or just under a lightweight Gel like the Dr Jart Blemish Gel Cream (It depends on the temperature), just to add some Niacinamide to the skin and to add some intense hydration into the skin without using a watery essence; this skews closer towards a gel so it layers better on top of watery serums or toners.

Why Snail Mucin?: Snail Mucin can be used to help with dermatitis i.e. itchiness, and helps soothe the skin. It protects the skin and helps with wound healing and helps improve fine lines.

Key Ingredients: 5% Niacinamide – Brightening, Skin Barrier Reinforcing and Reduces the look of Fine Lines (Also Sebum Regulating). 74.3% Triple Snail Complex (From 3 types of Snail): Snail Mucin is loaded with intensely hydrating ingredients and skin-improving peptides and acts as an antioxidant. Glutathione helps Improve the skin’s tone and complexion.

Other Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid (Hydrating). Argan Oil (Emollient) – Highly nourishing + Moisturising. Hyaluronic Acid (humectant – hydrating) + Arginine (Supports the skin’s barrier). Panthenol + Allantoin (Soothing). Betaine (Moisturising). Panthenol (Soothing).

Emollients (Moisturising i.e. the creamy part): Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil + Argania Kernel Oil.

Full Ingredients: Snail Secretion Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Panthenol, Water, Glycerin, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Allantoin, Carbomer, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Sodium Polyacrylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Arginine, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Surfactin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glutathione

NOTE: The Incidecoder have a full ingredient breakdown HERE

Texture: The company claims that this doesn’t leave a sticky residue and I would agree! It simply sinks into and softens the skin. It has that typical snail mucin, gloopy texture which you either love or hate. Due to the emollients/oils added in here as well, this wont or at least shouldn’t ball up. This feels lush to spread along the skin, it gives the skin instant hydration and makes the skin feel softer. It doesn’t feel greasy and this is lightweight enough to make the skin feel like it can breathe.

You can see this is translucent due to the mixture of Essence and Cream.

Very easy to spread along the skin. It feels so cooling, hydrating and doesn’t snag or tug at the skin.

Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: Yes (Due to the Niacinamide).

Summer or Winter?: Both can be layered under creams for Dry skins and used as a standalone moisturiser for oily skins.

Layerable?: Yes, and it’s encouraged by cosrx to use this under a cream.

Video Swatch:

Hopefully you can see from the texture that this is lightweight and hydrating. It is easy to spread this along the skin and definitely has that signature mucin texture!

Fragrance?: No added Fragrance and/or EO (This also smells of nothing).

Good Under Makeup?: It’s fine (just don’t apply too much).

How long have I been using this?: 2 Months

Will I use until Completion?: Yes!

How Long will that take?: Another 2 Months; a little goes a LONG way with this product and I use it every other day as an evening moisturiser. It may take dry skins and those who use this x2 a day (or daily) less time to finish the product.

The Effect?: Hydrated AND Moisturised Skin! With the addition of Niacinamide; this of course helps improve the overall tone of the skin (will not fix dark spots). The Skin feels Nourished.

What I like:

  • Fragrance + EO Free
  • Good amount of Actives i.e. 5% Niacinamide
  • Great sturdy packaging and dispenses a good amount of product!
  • Didn’t irritate or ruin my skin
  • Intensely Hydrating
  • Moisturising (not as Moisturising as it is hydrating)
  • A little goes a long way
  • Easy to travel with

What I don’t like:

  • Snail Mucin – can be finnicky/messy (Gloopiness of mucin)
  • Would have liked some added Tripeptides (Like the eye cream)
  • Dry Skins may not find this moisturising enough.

Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4/5 – A Great Moisturiser/Essence hybrid that works very well for someone with Combination Skin like mine. This feels cooling, softening and hydrating. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Snail Cream (just a bit too thick for me) and the essence was great but lacked that moisture from emollients; so creating a product that’s a hybrid of the essence and cream together is a great way to get both hydration and moisture while thinning out the texture and making it more wearable for skins like mine.

Would I repurchase?: Yes!

Do I prefer his over the essence?: I actually love both equally. This has slightly more of a cream texture to it, so I like using it as a moisturiser, but the essence is so lovely and lightweight too, it’s hard to ignore. That being said if I HAD to choose between them, I would go for this as I think this is, ingredient-wise; an improved version of the essence. But texture-wise (to me) these feels the same!

Dupe?: The Regular COSRX Snail Mucin Essence HERE

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.

  1. Hi
    Great review
    Thank you so much
May I please know certain things about this product
I have serious acne prone skin. I’ve been using retinoid with Cosrx essence and snail cream too and these combo is working great in clearing my skin.. recently I’ve come across Cosrx advance dual essence but I’m worried if it’ll make me break out OR my skin might start purging.. what do you think?
