Black Rice – Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil

Available at: Yesstyle: LINK / Beauty Within: LINK / Soko Glam: LINK

Volume: 150ml

Price: ~£23.24 /$29.57

Vegan?: Yes

What is it + What does it do?: A minimalist-formula cleansing oil (only 9 ‘necessary’ ingredients) containing 95% plant oils to cleanse the skin without stripping it (provide hydration). Korean Rice Bran oil is they key ingredient included (contains minerals and proteins) to condition the skin.

Suitable for: All Skin Types, even sensitive (especially if you like a dry-oil).

Directions + How I use it: This can be used in the AM and PM. Apply a few pumps, massaging the face for 30 seconds before rinsing off with water.

Key Ingredients: Rice Bran Oil + Olive Oil (Antioxidants + Emollients) / Sunflower Seed Oil + Jojoba Seed Oil + Macadamia Seed Oil (Emollients).

Full Ingredients: Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin

Fragrance + Essential Oil-free?: Yes

Scent: This smells like the oils i.e. rice bran + olive oil + macadamia oil mixed together.

Packaging: Often, Oil Cleansers leak (especially at the tip), however this has not leaked for me. You can twist this to open and close however I wouldn’t trust that to not leak when travelling.

Texture:

This is a thin, dry oil that emulsifies when water is added. It is easy to massage this (dry) onto the skin. This did not sting or irritate my skin. This has not been unpleasant to use.

Stings the eyes?: No

Video Swatch: Does this turn milky when water is added?:

  • When water is added, this oil turns milky (emulsifies), making it easy to wash off as it thins out in texture.

Video Swatch: Makeup Removal Test

  • As you can see, this is an adequate makeup dissolver. It works well on dry skin, then when adding water and emulsifying, this becomes a better dissolver. I would still recommend x2 washes for waterproof and heavy-duty makeup. And make sure to massage the skin thoroughly before washing off.

Overall Effect + Experience: While I texturally prefer the feel of ‘wet oils’ over dry oils, this dry oil cleanser has still been effective and effective to use; it dissolves makeup and SPF adequately (requires x2 washes for heavy-duty makeup and a deep massage), and didn’t dry out (because it’s an oil) or damage/irritate my skin.

Dupes: The Needly - Mild Deep Cleansing Oil is also a ”Dry Oil”, although it does contain an Essential Oils. Review (Coming Soon).

Available at: Pure Seoul: LINK / Nontino: LINK

  • The B.Lab PHA Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil is also good and is fragrance + EO free.

Available at: Stylevana: LINK

  • The PuritoFrom Green Cleansing Oil is slightly thicker in texture, but is Fragrance + EO Free and contains quite a simple list of ingredients while dissolving makeup (Review coming soon).

Aimed at: This is meant to be gentle on those with sensitive skins.

Directions + How I use it: Apply an appropriate amount and lather onto wet skin, then wash off with water.

Video Swatch: Does this Foam Up? Does this Turn Milky when Water is added?

Overall + My Experience: 4 / 5 – I appreciate that this is Fragrance and EO Free. I also like that this isn’t painfully stripping (doesn’t foam up too much, which I like) and did not irritate my skin. It’s fine at removing SPF and the remnants of my makeup after first doing an oil cleanse.

Dupe?: The Vegreen – Rice Facial Wash Cleanser (A foaming cleansing Gel) – is also similar as it contains Rice Extract, is Fragrance + EO Free, Vegan + Cruelty-Free (Swatches + Review in the video below).

Texture:

As you can see, this is a lightweight toner that runs down the hand. There is some viscosity and weight to this product, but it’s not extremely thick (works for my oily-combination skin in the winter).

Balls up?: No

Greasy?: No

Sticky?: No

Fast absorbing?: Quite decent

Scent: No strong scent to this (Fragrance + EO Free).

This definitely feels hydrating on the skin and doesn’t just disappear or make the skin feel dry-er after absorbing.

Video Swatch:

Overall Effect + Experience: 4 (nearly 3.9)/5 – I enjoy that this is unscented. It’s hydrating and I enjoy the slightly thicker (more viscous) texture without this being too thick. This also did not irritate my skin.

Dupes?: The Vegreen – Nature Mucin Toner is also a viscous toner (similar to Snail Mucin), although slightly thicker than the HaruHaru Wonder Toner. This is Fragrance + EO Free, Vegan + Cruelty-Free and is hydrating.

Available at: Stylevana: LINK

    • The Axis-y Aqua Boosting Essence Toner – is also a thick (viscous) toner, albeit, slightly thicker than the HaruHaru toner (with slightly more potential to ball up) but nonetheless, it is hydrating and contains numerous hyaluronic acid variations to hydrate the skin inside and out. This is also Fragrance + EO Free, Vegan + Cruelty-Free.

    Available at: Stylevana: LINK

    • The Dear, Klairs – Supple Preparation Toner (Unscented) is also a viscous toner that is Fragrance + EO Free, Vegan + Cruelty-Free.

    Conclusion

I’ve pleasantly surprised by this line! All three products have worked suitably within their category i.e. the Oil Cleanser is a good oil cleanser, the cleansing gel has adequately cleansed my skin without drying it out, and the toner has a uniquely viscous texture and is hydrating. I appreciate that they are all fragrance and essential oil free and haven’t broken me out. The cleansing gel might be my favourite (Oily-Combination Skin) but I will use up all these products until completion. I would test out more Fragrance + EO Free Haruharu Wonder products as so far I have been enjoying them.

Cleansing OIl: Adequate Cleanser + Makeup Remover – All Skin Types (Particularly Dry Skins)

Cleansing Gel: Adequate Gentle Cleanser + SPF Remover – All Skin Types (Particularly Oily + Combination Skins)

Toner: Good Hydrator – All Skin Types (Particularly Normal + Combination Skins)

Available at: Yesstyle: LINK / Beauty Within: LINK / Stylevana: LINK

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
