Directions: Dispense into palms or a cotton pad and press into cleansed skin. Apply before serums, moisturizers, and oils. Can be used morning and night.

How I use it: I apply in the AM + PM as it’s lightweight and layerable (and is fast absorbing). I can use this with a pad and swipe the face and then go in with another layer, patting into the skin (i.e. as an essence and toner). And I can use this alongside products containing actives.

Key Ingredients: Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate (AKA: SYN-HYCAN) – This is a SMALL Tripeptide that allegedly (this comes from the manufacturer) can increase the skin’s production of Hyaluronic Acid (to plump up the skin therefore), and supposedly help with Skin elasticity (i.e. skin sagging), by improving Collagen Structure. (by improving Collagen structure).

Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid + Sodium Hyaluronate + Hyrodrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid (Moisturising + Hydrating). Betaine (Also Moisturising + Hydrating).

Full Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, Glycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, Betaine, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Citrate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate, Magnesium Chloride

NOTE: The Incidecoder have a full ingredient breakdown HERE

Texture: The company claims this is a water-based and non-sticky formula that absorbs quickly and is ideal for layering. I would agree with all of the above. Like adding water on the skin BUT it doesn’t make the skin feel dryer than it was before.

Greasy?: No

Sticky?: No

Balls up?: No

Fast absorbing?: Yes

  • As you can see this is a transparent liquid that simply runs down the hand

Swatch Comparison (No Product on the Left + Product on the Right)

Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: Yes (Due to the Hyaluronic Acid)

Summer or Winter?: Can use both seasons. Oily Skins could appreciate this in the Summer.

Layerable?: Yes

Video Swatch:

  • As you can see, this is a watery, lightweight product that just runs down the hand and absorbs very fast!

Fragrance?: Fragrance + EO Free

Good Under Makeup?: Yes

How long have I been using this?: 2-3 Months

Will I use until Completion?: Yes

How Long will that take?: Another 2-3 Months

The Effect?: Hydrated and plumped up skin (didn’t irritate my skin). Did I notice tangible long-term plumpness? Not really. But this hydrates the skin and works well for my needs i.e. as a Hydrating Essence + Toner that doesn’t ruin the layers of the skincare on top. And if this is doing some undercurrent skin-plumping, I don’t mind continuing using this and getting the benefits.

Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4 (almost a 3.9)/5 – A nice, lightweight Essence that’s Hydrating. It feels quite basic but I’m happy that it doesn’t make the skin feel dryer than before adding it. I wonder if people might find this a bit too basic (unless the Syn-Hycan works), but ultimately; dehydrated skins would find this the most useful and oily skins.

Would I repurchase?: Yes! As this feels like what I wanted the Muji Toner to be like (Review).

Dupe?: The Hada Labo Premium Lotion (Review HERE) / LINK / LINK, or The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics (Link)or on Look Fantastic: LINK.

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
