What is it?: An SPF50+ Moisturising Lip balm that provides a sheer tint and gloss.
What does it do?: Provides sun protection (SPF50) + Moisturises the lips while giving some shine!
Shade Names: Rose (tinted dusty mauve) / Dusk (sheer universal warm beige) / Shimmer (colourless holographic shine) / Peach (sheer golden-peachy shimmer) / Flamingo (Bright-ish Pink).
Supposedly Good for: All Skin Types
What I think: I would agree! I also would say that even Dry lips could go for a glossy balm like this as it doesn’t make the lips feel drier when applying!

Vegan?: No as this contains Beeswax + Sustainably Sourced, Cruelty-Free Lanolin (From Sheep).
Cruelty Free?: Yes
Packaging: Squeeze-y tube with a screw top plastic cap.

Directions: Apply whenever needed, especially when you’re out in the sun.
How I use it: I apply this in the AM AFTER applying my sunblock. I can apply this to give my lips a pop of colour and I can even wear this even when working out. I find that SPF kind of dries my lips out, so this has been a great way to moisturise the lips and provide high sun protection WHILE providing my lips with a nice tint! HOWEVER If I am wearing a mask, I do find that this WILL transfer onto the mask, so I wouldn’t recommend it for mask use. If you want an SPF Lip Balm for Mask use, then I recommend the Blistex Lip Balm (Review HERE). I would say less is definitely more, it’s quite easy to apply to much and then have a tinted finger tip that you don’t know what to do with after rubbing in the product.
Can I wear this on top of a lipstick?: It’s quite sheer so I can apply this on top of a lipstick or tint (but the butter-like texture may break up the lipstick underneath so I wouldn’t recommend applying this on top of a matte lipstick or liquid lipstick).
Sunscreen Ingredients: (This is SPF50+) – Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane – These are Chemical Filters (No White Cast) and Provide both UVA and UVB Protection.
Key Ingredients: Sutainable Lanolin (From Sheep) – This is an emollient + Moisturising (Prevents TEWL). Due to the Inclusion of Lanolin, this is slightly tacky but not nearly as much as Lanolips products that contain a higher % of Lanolin (My Reviews of Lanolips products is here). Olive Oil (Rich in Oleic Acid + Emollient. It Moisturises Dry Skin and also contains antioxidants). Sunflower Seed Oil (emollient). Castor Seed Oil (Lubricant + Emollient). Shea Butter (Provides relief to Dry Skin). Cacao Seed Butter (Smells Sweet + also moisturises the lips. Forms a barrier to prevent TEWL).
So, you can tell that this is moisturising and aims to hold in moisture!
Full Ingredients: Lanolin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Octocrylene, Beeswax, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Helianthus Annuus Hybrid Oil (Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Aroma, Tocopherol, May Contain (Depending on which shade): +/- CI 19140, CI 15850, CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 17200, CI 45410, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 42090.
NOTE: The Incidecoder have a full ingredient breakdown HERE
Texture: This is smooth (No grittiness) and almost feels like butter on the lips, but it does have a thicker gloss texture that then melts into the lips and is easy to spread along the lips.
Is this sticky?: This texture doesn’t feel too sticky or tacky (unlike the Lanolips Lip Balms/Glosses – Review HERE).
Does this feel Moisturising?: Yes.

As you can see, the shade looks quite potent when you look at it like this! But it does sheer out the more you spread it along the lips (but of course there is a slight tint!).

You can definitely see that glossy glow! And there is a slight tackiness (but not terrible, I can wear this comfortably still, just not under a mask). Hopefully you can see that there is SOME colour but it’s not like lipstick!
Swatch Video:
Hopefully you can see there is a SLIGHT tackiness but not ridiculously so! There is also a Sheer tint!
Fragrance?: This has Cacao Seed Butter which Ultra Violette state, give off a sweet scent. I would agree. Even the Olive and Castor Seed Oil as well as Beeswax can give off a slight scent. Overall it’s pleasant. This doesn’t smell like Plastic/Chemicals and I don’t think it smells unbearably sweet either.
How Good is it as a Tinted Lip Balm?: This definitely gives the lips a glossy look. In terms of the shade/colour – these aren’t extremely pigmented BUT I can totally tell there is a subtle shade difference when wearing the rose shade and the peach shade. So I would imagine it’s the same for the others. Personally I would like a bit more of a colour but these are called ‘Sheen’ so I should have known what I was getting myself into.
How long have I been using this?: I have been using this for 2-3 Months and will continue to use both shades until completion as these are necessary with my sun protection routine!
Would you use these in the PM too?: I personally prefer a bit more colour on my lips, so I would stick to wearing this in the AM, when I will be in the sun, and then switch to a Lip gloss that provides more colour in the PM.
The Effect?: Moisturised, Sun protected and Glossy Lips! Yes I will say this requires re-application, I find that during my workout, the gloss/tint does disappear and I need to re-apply, so keep this near or in a handbag! Also it’s good to re-apply SPF so I would encourage it.

What I like:
- Moisturising
- Not too sticky or tacky
- Gives the lips a glossy ‘sheen’
- Layerable
- Not invisible (adds some colour)
- High SPF Rating
What I don’t like:
- I would prefer some more colour (But I do understand that this is called ”Sheen”
- Doesn’t last very long (I do have to re-apply semi-frequently to keep that tint + glossy effect otherwise my lips just soak this up!)
- I don’t recommend if you’re going to be wearing a mask! Transfers + makes a bit of a mess
Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4/5 – I find that SPFs kind of dry my lips out, so this has been a great way to moisturise the lips and provide high sun protection WHILE providing my lips with a nice tint! This also doesn’t do that menthol-type tingling action either. I do find the tint quite sheer but at least the glossy effect is quite potent! I appreciate this isn’t ridiculously sticky or tacky (But I still find it uncomfortable to wear under a mask and would prefer to wear the Blistex Lip Balm for that) to the point of discouraging me from wearing it. I think the fact that I will continue to use this (as I find it very hard to find a tinted, high-gloss lip balm with SPF50) says something about the product!
Would I repurchase?: YES! High Sun Protection – Tick. Moisturising? – Tick. Makes the lips glossy? – Tik. Woudl this be my go-to PM Lip Gloss or Lip Stick? No, I would prefer to use it when I have to i.e. the AM.
Dupe?: I haven’t tried SPF50 Lip Glosses other than this one. The only other SPF50 Lip Product I would Recommend is from Blistex but it is Sheer (Review HERE).
My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
