Lanolips – 101 Ointment
NOTE: The Full Swatches: Review (+ Dupes) of this Lip Ointment is: HERE
Available at: Cult Beauty: LINK / Boots: LINK
Key Benefits:
- Deep Hydration: The ointment is designed to provide intense hydration and moisture to dry, chapped lips.
- Multi-Purpose Use: Apart from being a lip balm, it can be used on other dry areas of the skin, such as cuticles, elbows, and heels.
- Lanolin: Made primarily from ultra-pure medical-grade lanolin, it is a natural and safe option for sensitive skin.
- Healing Properties: It helps repair and protect the skin barrier, making it effective for healing minor cuts, burns, and abrasions.
- Long-Lasting: The thick, rich formula ensures long-lasting moisture and protection.
Uses:
- Lip Balm: Apply to lips for immediate and long-lasting relief from dryness and chapping.
- Cuticle Cream: Use it to moisturise and soften dry, cracked cuticles.
- Dry Skin Spots: Apply to any areas of the skin that are particularly dry or rough.
- Travel Companion: Its versatility makes it a perfect travel essential for dealing with dry skin issues on the go.
Why I like this product + Recommend it: This contains Lanolin, which has not only helped out my dry lips, but also really helped the eczema on my hand and dry bumps and irritation that can randomly occur on the skin. This doesn’t sting or itch, and it is so thick that it feels very moisturising. This is also unscented.
Lanolips – 12-Hour Overnight Lip Mask
NOTE: The Full Swatches: Review (+ Dupes) of this Lip Ointment is: HERE
Available at: Cult Beauty: LINK / Boots: LINK
Key Benefits:
- Intense Hydration: Formulated to deeply moisturise and hydrate lips, leaving them soft and supple by morning.
- Repair and Revitalization: It helps repair and rejuvenate dry, chapped, or cracked lips overnight.
- Ingredients: Contains ultra-pure medical-grade lanolin, as well as other beneficial ingredients like vitamin E, shea butter, and fruit extracts.
- Protective Barrier: Forms a protective barrier that locks in moisture and prevents further dehydration.
- Non-Sticky Formula: Despite its rich, thick texture, it is non-sticky and comfortable to wear overnight.
Features:
- Rich, Thick Texture: The mask has a thick consistency that ensures it stays on your lips throughout the night, providing continuous hydration.
- Multi-Functional: While primarily designed as an overnight treatment, it can also be used as a daily lip balm for extra hydration.
- Overnight: Leave it on overnight to allow the ingredients to penetrate and hydrate deeply.
Why I like this product + Recommend it: This is even thicker than the Lanolips 101 ointment (as it’s meant to technically be used in the PM), so it is very moisturising and lasts a long time on the lips. I’m not the biggest fan of the scent however (I discuss it more on the detailed review), but it does have quite a lot of additional added skin-beneficial ingredients. I still prefer the 101 ointment, but this nonetheless has been nice to use.

Full Ingredients: Polyisobutene, Petrolatum, Diisostearyl Malate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sorbitan sesquioleate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Ceramide NP, Ceramide NS, Ceramide AS, Ceramide EOP, Ceramide AP, Stearic Acid, Cholesterol, Vinegar, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol , Trehalose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Microcrystalline Wax, Sargassum Fusiforme Extract , Glycerin, Butylene Glyco, Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, 1,2-Hexanediol
Why I like this Lip Balm/Essence: This feels very smooth (almost as smooth as the Pixi Lip Gloss, but not quite) and doesn’t feel gritty on the lips. It is also very moisturising. It’s not creamy and is slightly thinner and smoother than a regular lip balm. I like the addition of multiple skin-beneficial ingredients and how this does indeed moisturise the lips and doesn’t feel like it disappears immediately on the lips.

Ultra Violette UV – Lip balms
Full Swatches + Review are HERE
Available at: Cult Beauty: LINK
I could not NOT recommend these as I love to gush and rave about these tinted, SPF50+ Glossy Lip Balms. I love using these in the AM as they protect the lips from UV rays, and also provide a pop of colour.
Key Benefits:
- Hydration: Formulated to deeply moisturize and nourish your lips, keeping them soft and supple.
- Sun Protection: Offers broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection, shielding your lips from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
- Glossy Finish: Adds a beautiful sheen to your lips, enhancing their natural look with a subtle tint and shine.
Lanolips – Tinted Lip Balms
- Although this is SPF30, this has wonderful saturation, and contains Lanolin, so these are very moisturising (Full Swatches + Review HERE).
Available at: Cult Beauty: LINK
Key Benefits:
- Hydration: Formulated to deeply moisturise and keep lips soft and smooth.
- Sun Protection: Offers broad-spectrum SPF 30 (I would prefer 50) protection to shield your lips from harmful UVA and UVB rays, preventing sunburn and long-term damage.
- Nourishment: Enriched with ultra-pure medical-grade lanolin, which helps to nourish and repair dry, chapped lips.
- Long-Lasting Moisture: Provides lasting hydration and protection, making it ideal for daily use.
Mediheal – Panteno LIPS – Sleeping Mask
Available at: Yesstyle: LINK
Price: £7.79
Ml: 10ml
What is it and What does it do?: This is a (Gel-textured) Lip Mask (Balm) containing Panthenol and Hyaluronic Acid to moisturise the lips. This also contains Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Green Tea Oil, Macadamia Oil and Jojoba Oil to moisturise dry (cracked) lips.
Texture: Out of all the lip balms I have recommended, this has the most ”typical” texture of a lip balm. It’s not insanely smooth or glossy, and it is also not too thick (like the lanolips lip ointment).
Key Ingredients: Lycium Chinense Fruit Extract + Raspberry Fruit Extract (Antioxidants). Hyaluronic Acid (Hydrating). Blueberry Fruit Extract + Panthenol (Soothing).
Full Ingredients: Polyisobutene, ethylhexyl palmitate, polyglyceryl-2 triisostearate, ozokerite, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, dimer dilinoleyl dimer dilinoleate, sorbitan sesquioleate, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, water, panthenol, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, caprylic/capric triglyceride, hydrogenated castor oil, camellia sinensis seed oil, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, tocopherol, honey extract, lycium chinense fruit extract, vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry) fruit extract, fragaria chiloensis (strawberry) fruit extract, rubus idaeus (raspberry) fruit extract, morus nigra fruit extract, rubus fruticosus (blackberry) fruit extract, ribes nigrum (black currant) fruit extract, vaccinium angustifolium (blueberry) fruit extract, vaccinium myrtillus fruit extract, euterpe oleracea fruit extract, 1,2-hexanediol, sodium hyaluronate, fragrance.

Why I like this and recommend it: I like the addition of emollient, moisturising ingredients and soothing panthenol. This feels the most like a ”normal” lip balm, and acts accordingly. I don’t think it needed the fragrance included, but it doesn’t linger (like the Lanolips Lip Mask does). This is moisturising and gentle on the lips and also doesn’t disappear (nice overnight lip mask).
- This is not greasy or too sticky
- Does contain fragrance
Pixi Beauty – Botanical Collagen Lip Gloss
Available at: Pixi Beauty: LINK / Target: LINK / Cult Beauty: LINK
Price: £14
Volume: 15ml
What it is + What it does: This is a lip treatment (lip balm) meant to reduce the look of fine lines, replenish and nourish the lips. It aims to leave the lips very shiny without it being sticky. The Collagen included is to help keep the lips plump. There is also an inclusion of a Tripeptide that actively works to increase skin firmness and reduce fine lines (helps with lip lines).
Packaging: This is a tube that’s easy to squeeze and dispel product. The Lip Gloss does not shoot out of the nib (easy to apply).
Key Ingredients: Syn-Coll (Tripeptide that is meant to Boost Collagen and Improve the Skin’s texture (reducing fine lines and helping to improve skin firmness) / Glycerin, Solluble Collagen, (Moisturising) / Acacia Seyal Gum (Moisturising / Hydrating).
Full ingredients: Diisostearyl Malate, Polyisobutene, Hydrogenated Castor Oil Dimer Dilinoleate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Soluble Collagen, Acacia Seyal Gum, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Olus/Vegetable Oil/Huile végétale, Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin.
Texture: This has a relatively thick, but very smooth texture to it. It is not sticky or tacky and moisturises the skin. This definitely gives off a very glossy finish (see swatch video below).
Video Swatch:
Overall Review + Conclusion: Overall this has been a pleasant Lip Gloss to use, hence why I am recommending it! I was most impressed by how this is not sticky or tacky and how smooth it feels on the lips! It doesn’t feel waxy but just glides over the lips. A little goes a long way and, it feels like this lasts a long time on the lips (doesn’t just disappear). I aprpeciate that it is unscented too.
The Ordinary – Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm
Note this is an honourable mention, and you can find the Full Swatches + Review of this lovely lip balm HERE.
I could not NOT recommend this lip balm. I recently reviewed this and wanted to include it in this recommendation line up.
Available at: The Ordinary: LINK
Price: £8.50
Ml: 15ml
Why I like it: This is just as smooth, lightweight and long-lasting as the Pixi Collagen Lip Gloss (extremely similar textures, but this might be even thinner). The addition of Hydrating/Moisturising Amino Acids and Moisturising Squalane is a nice touch.
Note: This is Fragrance + EO Free, Vegan + Cruelty-Free.
Key Ingredients: Gluconolactone (Exfoliant – PHA) / Squalane, Sodium PCA, PCA, Serine, Alanine, Arginine, Proline, Glycine, Threonine (Moisturising / Hydrating). Jojoba Esters (Soothing).
Full Ingredients: Squalane, Sorbitan Olivate, Aqua (Water), Trihydroxystearin, Betaine, Jojoba Esters, Helianthus Annuus Seed Wax, Sodium PCA, PCA, Serine, Alanine, Arginine, Proline, Glycine, Glutamic Acid, Lysine HCl, Threonine, Sodium Lactate, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Acacia Decurrens Flower Wax, Polyglycerin-3, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, Tocopherol, Calcium Gluconate, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate.
All Swatches + Comparison
As you can see, the Lanolips Overnight Lip Mask has a deep colour due to the Honey included. It also looks quite thick. The Pixi Collagen Lip Gloss almost looks like water. The Mediheal Panteno Lips is slightly translucent and hopefully you can see how this has the most ‘normal’ lip-balm-like texture. The Torriden Lip Essence is slightly thinner in texture.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I truly enjoy all of these lip balms. Despite the various names like Lip Essence, Mask, etc., they all serve the primary purpose of moisturising your lips. The difference mainly lies in the thickness of the product—masks are usually thicker than essences, but at their core, they are all lip balms.
My absolute favorite is the Lanolips 101 Lip Ointment. For those who don’t mind fragrance, I recommend the Lip Mask. Alternatively, The Ordinary’s New Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm stands out as a justtt slightly superior version of the Pixi Collagen Lip Gloss, though they are quite similar and both are excellent choices. The Mediheal Lip Mask/Balm is a fantastic K-beauty option that isn’t sticky or greasy and is generally pleasant to use, though it does contain fragrance. On the other hand, the Torriden Lip Essence is unscented, making it a slightly better choice for those who prefer fragrance-free products.
I hope you enjoyed my review and appreciated the insights into the textures of these lip balms. If you’d like to see more reviews on lip balms and lip care products, you can check them out [HERE].
