Where to purchase: Yesstyle: LINK / Stylevana: LINK

Price: £8.61 (or ££ 7.78 when on sale)

Volume: 3.5g

Shade: 14: Dear Apple

Made in: South Korea

What is it? + What does it do?: Moisturise the lips with a natural colour.

What I think: Definitely moisturises the skin and definitely with a natural colour.

Vegan?: Yes

Cruelty Free?: Yes

Packaging: Plastic and metal tube + cap. You have to twist quite a bit to get the stick to come up slowly, which does mean less chance of accidentally knocking the product off. But it also means it’s slightly messier applying this product as I end up also rubbing the metal tube on my lips.

How I use it: Just a few swipes and this product is on! It doesn’t take me ages to get this on. This doesn’t get intensely saturating, so you don’t need to keep applying layers to get more colour (waste of product if you do that).

Key Ingredients: Argan, Rosehip + Evening Primrose Oil (Soothing) + Olive oil to moisturise the skin (and prevent dehydration).

Full Ingredients: Diisostearyl Malate, Bis-Behenyl/Isostearyl/Phytosteryl Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Paraffin, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Microcrystalline Wax, Sorbitan Isostearate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Synthetic Wax, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Disteardimonium Hectorite, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer, Propylene Carbonate, Red 7 lake (CI 15850), Yellow 6 lake (CI 15985), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Fragrance, Limonene, Linalool, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140)

Texture: This is very easy to swipe along the lips as it melts almost instantly upon contact. It’s not sticky or tacky. It’s moisturising and has a nice glossy finish. You can keep applying this but it gets to a point of maximum saturation quite quickly (a natural colour pay-off) quite quickly. This does need re-application if you sweat, eat, or wear this for many hours (i.e. the colour will eventually dissipate as this is not a tint).

As you can see, this has a coral/peach-y shade to it (that suits my warm-golden skin tone).

You can see this has a glossy / shiny finish to it.

Lip Swatch

The shade we’re looking at is 14 – Dear Apple (you can see it is a natural, warm shade)

Video Swatch:

Fragrance?: This contains Fragrance, Limonene and Linalool. It’s a pleasant smell (not as ”yummy” as the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask or Glowy Balm – Review HERE) and it’s nice that this doesn’t smell of chemicals.

How long have I been using this?: 3-4 Weeks.

Will I use until Completion?: Yes.

The Effect?: Moisturised lips with a much glossier and natural-coloured pop to it.

    What I like:

    • Glossy
    • Moisturising
    • Not sticky or tacky (feels nice and smooth)
    • Doesn’t smell of chemicals
    • Really good for natural makeup (no makeup-makeup look)

    What I don’t like:

    • Doesn’t last very long (have to re-apply)
    • Melts quite quickly (while applying on the lips) so can be a little messy at the tip
    • Not deeply saturated

Conclusion: 4 (nearly 3.9) / 5 – Not a bad Lip Balm/Gloss! I really appreciate that this is moisturising, I really wouldn’t have liked it if it dried out my lips. So it’s a really nice idea if you want a lip balm in stick format that gives a natural and very glossy finish to the lips (it’s really pretty). The colour is very mild (for me) but some people may really prefer that over high saturation. I’m also happy that it’s not sticky and feels smooth on the lips.

Would I repurchase?: If I wanted a natural-looking lip gloss/balm then yes. Oftentimes I prefer more saturated lip colours that last longer, but I am not angry that I received this for review and would definitely continue to use this lip balm/gloss as it works really well when I want to go for a natural look. That being said, if I went for a more pink/red shade, then that would show up more on the lips and perhaps give an even bigger colour payoff.

Dupes?: The Saem – Saemmy’s Syrup Shot Melting Balm (Yesstyle: LINK) – Same style/format of lip applicator. This also looks quite natural and very glossy (melts on the lips). The similar shade is ”Peach Coat”.

The Shade similar to the Romand Dear Shade = Honey Fig (Warm toned)

    • The Dasique – Melting Candy Balm is also very similar as it too melts on the lips (slightly more saturated). Available at: Stylevana: LINK – £7.88 (or £9.86)

The shade that is similar to Dear Apple is the Lychee Cream Shade LINK

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
