Where to purchase: Yesstyle: LINK / Stylevana: LINK / iHerb: LINK

Price: £23.24

Volume: 80ml

Made in: South Korea

What is it?: a lightweight, water-like moisturiser designed for acne-prone and oily skin, containing soothing [Cica + Green Tea etc] and hydrating ingredients to regulate sebum, reduce blackheads [Niacinamide + Zinc PCA+ Pantothenic acid – Vitamin B5] and condition the skin while maintaining a lightweight, non-greasy finish.

Supposedly Good for: Oily + Blemish-Prone Skin.

What I think: I agree that Oily and Combination skin types may prefer this over dry skins (although dry skins could use this in the summer). Sensitive skins may also use this cream.

Directions: ”Apply a moderate amount to the skin evenly and pat it gently for better absorption.” (From the Website).

How I use it: I apply this in the AM and/or PM as it’s comfortable to wear before bed and before a workout. I find that a little goes a long way (spreads out a lot) so I don’t need to apply lots and lots of cream to cover both the face and neck.

Key Ingredients:

  • Anti-blemish: Niacinamide (sebum-regulating and also brightening) + Zinc PCA (also moisturising) + Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5).
  • Skin brightening: Turmeric Root Extract (also antioxidative + soothing) + Alpha-Arbutin + Liquorice Root Extract.
  • Antioxidants: Centella Asiatica and Leaf Extract (Cica, also soothing and hydrating) + Green Tea Extract (also soothing and hydrating) + Argan Oil (moisturising)
  • Soothing: White Willow Bark extract (Witch Hazel) + Panthenol (also moisturising)
  • Emollients + Moisturisers/Humectants: Argan Oil + Aloe Vera Flower Extract / Glucose, Fructooligosaccharides, Fructose.

Texture: The company describes this as a watery gel-cream and I would agree. They also state that this is lightweight and yes, I would agree. It feels cooling and hydrating when rubbing into the skin and absorbs quite quickly. It doesn’t leave much of an oily residue and my skin does not feel uncomfortable after. It does have the airyness of silicone and potential to ball up if you rub the skin very hard (but if you apply this regularly, this shouldn’t cause problems).

Sticky?: Not really [See the Swatch Video below].

Greasy?: No, this does not feel greasy on the skin [This is not mattifying throughout the day, but I don’t look really dewy].

Balls up?: No, unless you apply a lot of product and rub the skin hard once absorbed/dried down.

  • As you can see, this starts off as a translucent cream which blends into the skin, leaving it feeling soft (thanks to the silicone) and lightly hydrated / moisturised.

Hopefully you can see that watery-like formulation.

Swatch Comparison: No Cream (Left) VS Cream (Right)

Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: This did not for me.

Summer or Winter?: Dry Skins: Summer AM Moisturiser. Oilier Skins / Combination Skins: Summer + Winter AM / PM Moisturiser.

Layerable?: Yes. But the more you add, the more potential (with firm rubbing) this could start to ball up once dried down.

Video Swatch:

  • As you can see, this isn’t too sticky or tacky. The finish isn’t overtly greasy-looking either.

Fragrance?: This is Fragrance + EO Free

Good Under Makeup?: Yes (But don’t add lots and lots of product and do not roughly rub the skin, just to avoid any potential balling up).

How long have I been using this?: 3 Months.

Will I use until Completion?: Yes.

How Long will that take?: Another ~2 Months (I use this almost daily in the AM).

The Effect?: This feels lightly refreshing, mildly hydrating, cooling and moisturising on the skin. Long-term: Although this contains sebum-regulating ingredients, it hasn’t made my oily-combination skin feel really tight or dry in my skincare regime. I have not suffered from breakouts either.

What I like:

  • Fragrance + EO Free
  • Hydrating
  • Moisturising
  • Lightweight
  • Not uncomfortable to wear (didn’t feel heavy or really greasy)
  • Did not ruin / irritate my skin
  • Contains a plethora of skin-beneficial ingredients (not just moisturising)
  • Didn’t make me look really greasy/dewy

What I don’t like:

  • Can potentially ball up (if you apply a lot of product or rub the skin hard after the cream has absorbed)
  • Not cruelty-free (or Halal)
  • Did not come with a spatula or a hygiene tab
  • Note for Oily skins: Not a powdery/mattifying finish with oil-control throughout the day (but it does feel airy and lightweight and doesn’t look too dewy)

Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4/5 – This is a gentle, lightweight gel-cream that works well with my oily-combination skin [airy finish, but not powdery/intensely mattifying]. It’s nice that I can wear it in the AM and PM without it feeling overtly heavy. It is aimed at those with oilier skin types and large pores (as you can see in the key ingredients) but Dry skins could still enjoy this in the summer [especially if you have dry skin that breaks out], particularly as an AM moisturiser.

Would I repurchase?: Yes. It’s comfortable to wear and it’s hydrating.

Dupe?: The Dr.G – Red Blemish Clear Soothing Cream (Swatches + Review HERE) is very similar in terms of texture AND is aimed at Blemish-Prone and Oilier skins, aiming to reduce excess sebum production and breakouts.

Available at: Yesstyle: LINK / Stylevana: LINK

  • The Acwell – Real Aqua Balancing Cream (Swatches + Review HERE) is also very similar in terms of texture and finish (very similar!). However, it is Vegan + Cruelty-Free.

Available at: Soko Glam: LINK

  • The First Aid Beauty – Coconut Water cream (Swatches + Review HERE) is another very similarly-textured water-gel-cream that is unscented, but smells pleasant, thanks to the ingredients. It is hydrating and lightweight, vegan + cruelty-free.

My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
